History:

The frame needs regilding, previous repairs are poorly matched. The oil has cracked glaze, but is considered to be in good condition.
Notes: John McNairy (1763-1837) was born in Guilford Co, NC. He came to Middle TN with Andrew Jackson in 1788. He served as Judge of the Superior Court of NC for the Mero District which was composed of Middle and West TN counties. He represented Davidson County in the Constitutional Convention in 1796 and served as U.S. District Judge 1797-1834. McNairy County was established in 1819 in his honor.
