History:

Portrait was painted before 1880. It was purchased by the TN Historical Society from the son of the artist.
Notes: Willie Blount (1768-1835) was half-brother to Governor William Blount (see 1.848).He served as TN's fourth elected Governor (1809-1815) for a total of three consecutive terms and also served as a Judge of the Superior Court of Tn. It was said that he was not a great or brilliant man, but he was honest, patriotic and sensible, and made a good governor.
