History:	Painting is in poor condition.
Notes:	Neill Smith Brown (1810-1886) was born in Giles County, TN and was a veteran of the Seminole Wars. In 1837, he was elected as a member of the State Legislature. He served as Governor 1847-1849 and was chosen as the U.S. Minister of Russia in 1850. In 1870, he was a member of the State Constitutional Convention.
