History:

This is a bust view portrait with the subject's body directed forward and the subject's head is turned to his right. He is wearing a dark suit, white shirt and black bow tie, and has a moustache.
Notes: John Price Buchanan (1847-1930) was born in Williamson County, TN. He was a succesful farmer and stock raiser. He was elected to the State House of Representatives in 1887 and served until 1891. He was the first President of the Farmer's Alliance (1888), which nominated him as Governor of TN in 1891. He served one term as Governor and then retired to his farm.
