History:

This portrait is a copy of a painting done by Ralph E. W. Earl. It shows the upper torso of the subject and he is wearing a military uniform. The painting is in good condition, but the frame needs retouching.
Notes: General James Winchester fought in the War of 1812, was a co-founder of Memphis, and the builder of Cragfont in Sumner County, TN.
