P168. No entry in book "Portraits in Tennessee Before 1866." Narrative on reverse. Original in National Portrait Gallery, London (portrait # NPG 295)
Notes: Leading spokesman for the Reformation. Chaplain to King Henry VIII. Made Bishop of Worcester, 1535. Favorite preacher in the royal court under Edward VI. Arrested by Queen Mary & burned at the stake, in Oxford, on October 16, 1555.
