History:

Notes: Credited with nicknaming American flag "Old Glory." His mother sewed the flag which he hoisted on his first ship and christened "Old Glory" (now at Smithsonian). Escorted 65 descendants of the Bounty survivors from Tahiti back to Pitcairn Island, 1831.
