History:

Subject is a black man seated with his hands folded in his lap. He is wearing a brown suit, white shirt and a modern tie. He is seated in a red chair and there is a bookcase with books behind him. He has a ring on his right hand and has papers clasped under his left hand. Frame has damage on upper and lower proper left corners and on lower proper right corner. Portrait has been repaired and is in good condition.
Notes: George W. Lee (1894-1976) was a World War I hero, receiving the Croix de Guerre. He became a successful insurance executive in Memphis, TN. He was also the author of several books and short stories.
