History:

Painted by Lloyd Branson of Knoxville, TN, the portrait is of a man's head and shoulder, full front. The subject has a handle-bar moustache, a high white collar, black tie with a cravat knot, stick pin, black vest and coat with a Shriner's pin in the lapel. The portrait was presented by the subject's friends in 1907.
Notes: John Isaac Cox (1857-1946) served in the State House of Representatives (1893 and 1915), State Senate (1900-1905 and 1907-1911),and as Governor of TN (1905-1907).He died near his home near Bristol, TN in 1946.
