This portrait is possibly a study for a larger portrait. The label on the reverse side is covered with dirt and glue. It is a torso view. It has odd cracks in the paint layer and should be cleaned and examinined. It was considered to be in fair condition in 1980. George Dury left Bavaria for America in 1849. It is believed he did this study while he was court painter to King Ludwig I.
