History:
|
This is an upper torso view of the subject with her eyes directed forward. It is contained in an ornate gold plaster and wood frame. There is paint flaking off in a small area on the subjects forehead and in a linear fashion on the upper chest and directly below the neck. UV examination shows a minor overlay of paint. The canvas appears to be original with no relining and is stretched over an oval-shaped support.

Notes: |
Martha Ann Carden was the wife of Charles Bosley, Jr. and lived at Nashville on an estate called Peach Blossom. She and her husband died of yellow fever. |
