History:
|
This is the only miniature that George Dury is known to have painted. It is the head and shoulders of a small child. It is mounted on a pin and the reverse side contains woven brown hair under glass. The center edge has a slight dent, but object is considered to be in excellent condition.

Notes: |
Ada Bryan was born in 1859 and adopted by Hardy and Catherine Berry Bryan, before their other six children were born. Ada died at the age of two in 1861 of typhus. The Donor has a carte-de-viste of Ada from which it is thought that Dury copied to this miniature and was created after Ada's death. |
