This portrait is of a young girl wearing a short gray dress with an off-the-shoulder neckline and short puff sleaves. There is white lace at the neckline and a row of white lace from a petticoat or pantaloons is showing at the hem of the dress.. She is seated on what appears to be an ornate iron bench. She is holding a pink flower with green leaves. In the background is a road or path leading to a sunset with two silhouetted trees. This may have been a mourning portrait with the road suggesting the road to heaven. There is a sewing basket in the foreground right corner. She has short dark hair and is wearing white stockings with black boots.
