| Description: | Full
length of a young boy with long auburn wavy hair that covers his shoulders. He
is dressed reminiscent of Gainesborough's "Little Lord Fauntleroy"
with blue velvet 3-peice suit and extensive lace collar and cuffs. An Irish
setter-type dog lies at his left foot. The artist's signature is in the
lower left, and there is a faint background scene. |

may a photographic image underlying this image. It was painted when the subject
was aged 7-8. |
| Notes: | Subject
died of ptomaine poisoning at age 11 after ingesting bad food at the World's
Fair. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Wells Berry.
