| Description: | The Countess is sitting facing slightly to the viewer's right with her left arm across her waist. She is wearing a dark dress of heavy material with a deep v-neckline which has a highly decorated border of about three inches. The dress has a white ruffled bodice inside. She has a slight smile. Her hair is dark, parted in the middle, and worn over her ears. |

| Notes: | She was born 6 September 1826 and died 9 December 1906. She was married to a Mr. Bass who died 2 May 1855 then to the Italian Ambassador to the U. S., Count Joseph Bertinetti, in 1865. She is buried in Washington with her first husband and children.
