Description:	Knee-length seated frontal view of a young woman in a dark dress with a white lace collar. Her dark straight hair is parted in the middle and pulled back. In her left hand is a book, while her right hand rests on the arm of the red sofa. A white and a pink rose lay beside her right hand.
History:	The owner is a descendant of Jane Ellen Foster Cheatham.
Notes:	Jane Ellen Foster, daughter of Ephraim H. Foster, was married to Edward S. Cheatham on October 19, 1841, at Christ Church, Nashville, by the Rev. John Thomas Wheat.
