| Description: | Knee-length
nearly frontal standing of older man in grey business suit, white shirt, and
red tie. A white handkerchief extends from his jacket breast pocket. His
matching vest has five buttons and his gold watch chain falls between buttons
four and five. His left hand is in his pants pocket, and his right rests
on a book. He has straight silver hair and glasses |
| History: | Commissioned
by Cornelius Abernathy Craig, this hung at 405 Belle Meade Blvd. until 1986
when it was moved with Mrs. Henry . In 1990, upon the
death of Mrs. Henry, it was moved to her grandson's.
It was cleaned by Cumberland Art Conservation in 1990.
A duplicate exists at the home of another descendant. C. A. Craig, the
subject, commissioned two identical portraits--simultaneously, one for each of
his children. One is now owned by his granddaughter and one by his
great-grandson. |
