| Description: | Three-quarter
seated right profile of a young man with wavy dark brown hair. His eyes are
large, brown and cast to his left. Clean shaven, he is dressed in a black
coat, open, with two buttons visible, black buttoned vest, and black necktie.
The olive green chair is visible behind both shoulders. A muted pink drape's folds are in the left background. |
| History: | The portrait descended in family hands to the current owner. |
| Notes: | William Dixon Dunn, son of Michael Dunn & Elizabeth Rains Dunn, was born in Nashville in 1807. After his marriage to Sophia Louise Horton in 1848, the couple moved to St. Louis and later to Mobile, Alabama. Col. Dunn died in Mobile in 1889.
