Description:Frontal elbow-length portrait of a woman looking towards the right of the canvas. The woman is wearing a brown collared shirt with a white jacket. Half of the woman's brown hair is pulled back and she is wearing coral lipstick. Brown and red mottled background.
History of Work:Signed: LR: Paul Matthew Scott.
Notes:Sitter is a descendent of the Emile Frederick Augustus Witzmann family who lived in Memphis in the last quarter of the 19th century. (portrait was not painted in Memphis.)

Provenance: Given by Gamble family. One is the sitter in the portrait. Gift in memory of Mary Louise Witzmann Gamble from her children Frederick, Martha, and Emile
