| Description: | Half-length portrait of an older man wearing a black suit and bow tie. The subject is standing with hand on a book, presumably a Bible since he was a Methodist minister. |
| History of Work: | The portrait is clearly signed by Cooper in the lower left. Restoration and cleaning by Cynthia Stow, Cumberland Art Conservation Center, 2001. |
| Notes: | Subject is owner's great-great grandfather, a Methodist minister in the Tennessee conference and a member of the first Board of Trust for what would become Vanderbilt University.
