Notes:Following Bishop Holland McTyeire, Bishop Hargrove became the second president of the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust serving from 1889 to 1905. A native of Alabama, he had been ordained Bishop in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South in 1882 and had been a Trustee on Vanderbilt's board since 1886.
