| Description: | Fomally attired and in his late forties, the subject has piercing blue eyes and aquiline nose presenting a stern countenance. |
| History of Work: | The painting is one of a pair (see Sallie Wiles King Harris). The portrait was passed down through Josiah Harris' descendants to the present owner. Subject is the great-great-paternal grandfather of this current owner. |
| Notes: | Subject was born 26 April 1809 and died 21 July 1863. He was a well-established merchant in Louisville, KY. He is buried in Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Mentioned in History of Kentucky by W. H. Perrin, p. 667.
