Description:Frontal full-length portrait of a woman looking over her right shoulder. The woman is wearing a white gown with a train that stretches to the far left of the canvas. Her left hand is perched on a piano and her right hand is holding a fan up to her shoulder. Background is a room with textured walls and plants.
History of Work:Signed: LR: Carl Gutherz. The artist lived and worked in Memphis ca. 1860-1875. Painted while the artist lived and worked in St. Louis. Missouri, from 1875 to 1884.
Notes:Miss Nellie Hazeltine was a well-known debutante in St. Louis.
