| Description: | Subject is sitting facing three-quarter left but looking at viewer. Subject is wearing military dress uniform with 3 stars on the epaulettes and very high collar with gold edging. White shirt and scarf. Subject has a very narrow face and pointed chin. |
| History of Work: | Copy from Philadelphia--came from Wheeling, West Virginia - rescued from a trash pile beside the road. One of three known copies of a portrait by Nathan W. Wheeler ca. 1830. Wood was either the back of a looking glass or clock. |
