| History of Work: | The subject moved to the Nashville area from Max Meadows, Virginia. Her husband buillt "Midway," the ante-bellum home used as centerpiece of present Brentwood Country Club. She is the mother of Cynthia and Emily McGavock, also in this portrait collection, great-grandparent of Margaret Hayes Powell and of Anne P. Lowe and Hortense P. Cooper, the widow of Governor Prentice Cooper. |
