Description:Rectangular portrait of Rev. James H. Otey, first Episcopal Bishop of Tennessee. Subject wearing priest's white surplice with black stole and two-piece collar. Holding pages of thin bound parchment over an open bible set on table. Sitter has short dark brown hair and looks to his left. Gold ring on left ring-finger. Mottled red curtain forms background. Curtain pulled back with tassle at rear left.
