| Description: | Waist-length three-quarters right profile of a young woman in a tan and white patterned high-collared dress. Her light brown hair has small curls that frame her face and the rest of her hair is pulled up. A small spray of orange blossoms is in the foreground. Bottom left is signed "J. W. Dodge 1890." |
| History: | A handwritten note is attached to the back: "Likeness of Mrs. May Overton of Nashville, Tennessee. Painted by John W. Dodge at Pomona, Tenn Octr. 1890. Age of the artist, 83 years." |
| Notes: | Sitter died March 1890, so this is a posthumous work.
Work had insect damage that was repaired by Lyzon in 1990.
