Description:Mary Frances Battle Perry as a young girl, in a white dress with ruffles and a large white bow in her hair.
History of Work:Presented to the library in 2003 by the Estate of Anne Elizabeth Battle.
Notes:Born in 1897, Mary Frances Battle Perry was the daughter of Alfred Blackman and Blanche Goodall Battle, the sister of Anne Elizabeth Battle, the wife of Henry Rutledge Perry, and the great-niece of Mary Frances "Fannie" Battle. She graduated from Vanderbilt University and taught history in Mississippi and Louisiana.
