| Notes: | John Sevier (1745-1815) served in the Revolutionary War and fought the Native Americans winning 30 battles. He was the first governor of the State of Franklin, which lasted for 1785-1788. He was paid 200 mink skins a year as governor. John Sevier was the first governor of the State of Tennessee, serving six terms (1796-1801 and 1803-1809)> He also served four terms as a United States Congressman.
