Unfinished nearly full-length seated portrait of an African American man with grey hair holding a walking stick in his left hand. The background is red.
History of Work:
Bought ca. 1960 from the subject's family at a price they set of $25.00. Restored by Ned Crouch.
Notes:
Subject was a Hermitage house servant who lived there until 1901. He was the first tour guide of the home after the Jackson descendants departed it.
