| History of Work: | Portrait was presented to the University in 1921 by William Kissam Vanderbit's two sons, William Kissam Vanderbilt, Jr. and Harold Stirling Vanderbilt. |
| Notes: | William Kissam Vanderbilt was the fourth of nine children born to William Henry and Maria Louisa Kissam Vanderbilt. An executive in the family's railroad interests, he was a generous supporter of Vanderbilt University which had been founded by his grandfather, Cornelius Vanderbilt.
