Oval image of a woman with an elongated face accentuated by the draping brown curls that frame her face. She is wearing a dark blue dress and a rectangular locket.
History:Painted in Poughkeepsie, New York.

The full inscription on the back reads "Painted by Edward S. Dodge, Pokeepsie, N. Y. Aug 1841. Mrs M. Vassar Jr."
