Description:Portrait of George Washington showing black coat open almost to waist with ruffled shirt front attached to smooth and high collar around throat and neck. Coat has a flower-like ruffle behind the neck.
History of Work:Painted by Gilbert Stuart's daughter - Jane.

Purchased in 1979. Not signed - possibly was an unfinished portrait by her father Gilbert Stuart (1755-1828) that Jane Stuart finished. She did finish a number of his paintings.
