Description:Frame is plain gilded copper.

Oval of a child, aged 8, who has very short blond hair, large blue eyes, and a diminshed sickly pallor. Dressed in white, pink clouds and blue sky are in the background, as is a hint of green..
History:A pencil inscription on a paper in the back says "Painted by John W.Dodge (after death) Nashville Ten. April 25th 1842; Likeness of daughter of Thos. Washington Esqr." Mary Eliza's obituary appeared in the Nashville Whig on 27 January 1842.
