| History of Work: | This portrait was commissioned by Vanderbilt's Board of Trust in 1991. It hangs in Kirkland Hall on the campus. |
| Notes: | A 1941 alumnus of Vanderbilt University, David K. Wilson was a co-founder of the Cherokee Insurance Company in 1946 serving as its president until 1968 when the Cherokee Equity Corp. over which he became, and remains, chairman. He became a Trustee on the Vanderbilt Board of Trust in 1963 and served as its president from 1981 - 1991. David K. Wilson Hall, a Vanderbilt classroom building, was named in Mr. Wilson's honor in 1991.
