Description:Frame is plain gold on copper; back completely filled with glass (replaced by Wiebold) with original silvered, patterned copper and tinned foil.

Oval of an older heavy-set man with pink cheeks, wearing a blue jacket and tan vest.
History:Painted in Boston. Has the number 57 painted into a tiny oval at lower right--this is original. Paper inside that appears to be contemporary with the miniature has written on it in ink ""John Wittney/Boston/With love to/my wife, Mary."
